Peer Mentoring Collaborative Program
What is the Peer Mentoring Collaborative (PMC) Program?
Triton College’s Peer Mentoring Collaborative (PMC) is a classroom-based peer mentoring program that offers in-class support at faculty’s request. PMC provides Triton students with a paid opportunity to mentor fellow students and to work with Triton faculty. PMC merges academic support with traditional peer mentoring to provide students with the best opportunity for success.
What are the qualifications to become a peer mentor?
- Must be an active degree seeking Triton student enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester.
- Must have completed at least 12 college credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or higher.
- Must have earned an "A" grade in the course assigned to for peer mentoring, or equivalent.
- Must have good interpersonal skills with a desire to help students.
What do peer mentor’s duties include?
- Attend and participate in live class sessions.
- Host weekly office hours to tutor students on course content.
- Connect students with campus resources and mentor students on how to navigate college.
- Facilitate group study sessions and workshops.
What are PMC’s Learning Outcomes?
Learning outcomes are measurable statements that articulate what students should know, be able to do, or value as a result of taking a course or completing a program.

Spring 2021 student survey results
- 100% of student surveyed indicated that they felt supported by their peer mentor.
- 84% of students surveyed indicated their peer mentor enhanced their understanding of campus resources.
